Job Description

Are you a highly skilled Trust and Estate Paralegal with deep expertise in taxes and estate settlement? We're looking for a dedicated professional to join our team and help guide clients through the complexities of estate planning and administration. This is on site for a well established law firm in Hartford CT.

What will you be doing?

  • Assist in the preparation and filing of estate tax returns (Form 706, 1041, etc.)
  • Provide support with probate and non-probate estate administration, including asset identification, creditor claims, and distributions
  • Prepare and maintain trust documentation, including amendments, funding, and distributions
  • Coordinate with accountants, financial advisors, and tax professionals to ensure timely filing and accurate reporting
  • Communicate with beneficiaries and executors to provide updates and answer questions regarding estate matters
  • Manage complex tax-related issues within estates and trusts, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Assist with the preparation of court filings and related documentation

What Qualifications must I have?

  • 3+ years of experience as a Trust and Estate Paralegal
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state estate, gift, and income tax laws
  • Strong understanding of estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney
  • Experience working with probate courts, tax professionals, and financial institutions
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Paralegal certification and/or degree preferred but not require experience is just as valued, with a specialization in estate planning or taxation a plus
